She joins Veronica Adhiambo and Noel Murambi as other players from Kenya Pipeline who have secured deals abroad this year.

Kenyan international Violet Makuto is looking forward to an exciting challenge after completing a move to United Arab Emirates (UAE) side Al Wasl from Kenya Pipeline.

The 29-year-old joined the Dubai-based outfit on a season-long deal and jetted out of the country on Thursday.

The left-handed opposite who can also play as a middle-blocker has attributed her good form to her return to Pipeline in January as well as Malkia Strikers' training camp in Brazil, terming it her best year in her career.

“I am happy about this move and excited about the challenge ahead. I remain grateful to Kenya Pipeline for releasing me and allowing me to pursue this dream. I know a lot will be expected from me as a professional player and I am ready to show them they made the right decision to sign me. This has been one of my best years in volleyball. Coach (Paul) Gitau has really pushed me in training since I returned to Pipeline in January and the Brazil training camp with the national team also helped me improve my game," she said as quoted on Nation Sports.

Makuto is the third player from the local giants, Kenya Pipeline, to turn professional this year after Veronica Adhiambo and Noel Murambi who moved to Turkey and Cyprus respectively.

She is not worried about where her coaches at Al Wasl will opt to field her, whether as an opposite or as a middle blocker, noting that she enjoys playing in either of the roles and will give her best when called upon.

“One of my strengths is I am a versatile player. I can play as a middle blocker and opposite. I enjoy playing both positions so this is nothing new to me. Wherever I will be fielded, I’ll give my best to help the team win,” she added.
